THE BENEFITS OF CONSUMING SUNNAH FOOD

INTRODUCTION

Food is a basic component in our daily life. The intake of nutritious foods and balance diet is important to give you a healthier body. Eating according to the food pyramid is one of the ways to maintain the health of the body from the spiritual and physical aspects and can prevent various diseases such as heart heart attack, diabetes and obesity.

 From Abu Hurairah Radiallahu Anhu he said: Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasalam has said: A strong believer is better and more liked by Allah Subahanahu Wata’ala than a weak believer ”(Narrated by Imam Muslim)

From this hadith, we can see that it is importance for us to take a good care of health. But for today I'm gonna share what is the benefits of eating Sunnah foods toward our body health

But what is Sunnah Foods. To make it clear Sunnah Foods is a food that is mentioned in Al-Quran and even consumed by Prophet Muhammad SAW in his daily life.

1. DATES

From Ibnu Qayyim in Tib An Nabawi, Prophet Muhammad S.A.W said "Dates able to strenghten stomach, liver, memory, to grow body development, cure illness and as food and drink that sated.


Dates or scientifically known as phoenix dactylifera is a fruit that is widely grown in middle eastern countries such as Saudi Arabia, Oman and Egypt. Generally, dates are usually sold during Ramadan as widely consumed during breaking the fast. But, why we as a muslim ate during breaking the fast and sahoor and become a habit. 

Dates are high in sugar and vitamins such as potassium and magnesium as well as an excellent source of fiber and carbohydrates. When fasting the body can easily develop mild health conditions like low blood sugar, headaches and lethargy. The nutrients found in dates can help alleviate these conditions and provide a source of energy. Thus, this would be a reason why Prophet Muhammad PBUH loved to eat dates during breaking the fast


Dates also promote benefits to human digestive system as well prevent the diseases related to the system. Dates contain almost 7g of fibre from each 100g servings. Fibre can benefit to our digestive system by prevent constipation. It promote regular bowel movements by contributing to the formation of stool. In one study,21 people who consumed 7 dates per day for 21 days experienced improvement in stool frequency and had significant increase in bowel movement compared to when they did not consumed dates. Furthermore, fibre in dates also may be beneficial for blood sugar control. Fibres will slow down the digestion process and prevent blood sugar levels from spiking too high.


2. HONEY

Rasulullah s.a.w. said: “Honey is a remedy for every illness and the Qur’an is a remedy for all illness of the mind, therefore I recommend to you both remedies, the Qur’an and honey.” (Narated by Al-Bukhari)



Honey is a thick sweet liquid that is produce from certain bees. Honey also widely used as an alternative for treatment, nutrition boost and for human health. One of the benefits of honey that used to is it ability to reduce sore throat. By consuming honey, it can suppress the cough and sore throat thanks to its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory powers. Researchers have shown that a 2.5ml dos of honey can be more effective cough suppressant for children with upper respiratory infections than some common cough medicines.

     Have you ever wounded? If yes, then the first thing that you would do was grabbed an antiseptic to clean the wound. Did you know that you could replace other common antiseptic with honey. This is because honey has antibacterial and antiseptic properties that can heal the wound or burn. A review of  26 studies on honey and wound care found honey most effective at healing partial-thickness burns and wound.

     Everyone in this world especially women desired for a youth skin. Honey is one of option to reduce aging of the skin. Honey is packed with the antioxidant that can fight cell damage. High antioxidant in honey can protect your skin's cell from a free radicals from damage your skin. Free radical damage is associated with aging, inflammatory disorders and diseases. Plus it is a natural!


3. MILK

Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. once said ," There are no others that can act as drink and food at the same time like milk." (Narated by Abu Daud)



Milk is a common drink that we consumed during breakfast. Drinking a glass of milk can give us a lot of benefits to our health especially towards children. Milk rich with vitamin, mineral and calcium that is important for our growth and strengthen bones. A cup of milk contains almost 30% of the daily requirements of calcium for adults. Lack of calcium would cause cause a serious disease which is hypocalcemia.

    High content of protein in milk would provide nutrients that is needed for cell growth, prevent muscle cramps and replace the lost fluid that is used during exercising. So there is no reasons for not drinking the milk.

   Unfortunately, people with lactose intolerance are not encouraged to drink milk in a large quantity. They are unable to digest the lactose in milk. Lactose is a type of sugar that contains in milk. Lack of lactase enzyme in body is the main reason why they can't to fully digest the lactose in milk. As a result, they have diarrhea and bloating after consuming dairy product. Although it is harmless but its symptoms can be uncomfortable.
